Revisiting the 1994 G.I. Joe Scorpion & the End of an Era!

Story By Mitchell Smith
Welcome to The Outpost. 1994 was a sad year for GI Joe fans. Hasbro decided to end the 3-3/4 inch Joe line. Most of the eighties kids who had grow up on Joes now were in high school, college, or starting a family. Joes faded out and most of us didn’t even know it at the time, Me being one of them as I graduated high school this year and started college. Nevertheless years later I rediscovered GI Joe.
There was a vast sea of Joe fans just like me. We connected with each other on our passion and our appreciation for our childhood and for the tremendous workmanship that went into so many Joes and vehicles. Even though the original toy line was a thing of the past there were still some great figures and vehicles being produced along with some really cheap ones. The 1994 Scorpion is one of those vehicles that’s really cool, and kind of fell into the crack. It’s a 2 seater with room for 3 to stand. The hood lifts up and reveals a pretty nicely detailed engine.
Overall it has nice detail on the seats and driver console. The spring loaded missile projector is proportionate so it looks pretty cool on this vehicle. I picture this as a desert vehicle for Cobra, but could fit in anywhere I suppose. Overall this is a nice vehicle and I’m happy I was able to pick this one up. Who had a Scorpion as a kid? Make sure to check back next week for the next discussion at The Outpost.
